my dining room makeover reveal!

03 November 2015
you might remember a few months ago i announced that i am partnering with raymour & flanigan to create my dream dining room, and today all the hard work (and by "hard" i mean "super. fun.") has come together and i am so excited to show you the lovely results!
my interior design background combined with my love of illustrating meant that there was no better way to to describe our space than by drafting up a floor plan and some illustrated elevations! as you can see, our dining room is not your typical, formal dining room with four walls and a door. rather, it is completely open to our kitchen and it has clear views into our front entry and living room. for this reason, when selecting the dining furniture and finishes, i made sure to take the open views into consideration.

if you have been following along on my collaborative pinterest board with raymour & flanigan, you'll know that i was inspired by the look of contemporary lucite chairs combined with rustic wooden farmhouse tables. the classic lines of the annie chair fit perfectly with the style of our existing space. i love the idea of the traditional shape of the chair rethought in a contemporary material.
the lucite chairs maintain a visual lightness and allow the gorgeous farmhouse brewster table to really shine.

as soon as i saw it, i knew i need to work the marissa chest into my design. our dining area is small and i did not want to attempt to squeeze an oversized buffet or sideboard into the space. the chest is the perfect scale, while still providing extra storage. plus, the greige color and patterns are beautiful! (more on my love of mixing patterns in a future post!).

in all of my designs, i love to mix golds, silvers, bronzes, and chromes. there are no rules about sticking to one metal finish. the warm bronze tone of the mirror above the chest creates balance with the warm wood finish of the table.

i had such a great experience working with the team at raymour & flanigan. stay tuned for more photos of my dining room and living room. and let's not forget the special order fabric pieces that i ordered through my local raymour & flanigan showroom. oh, let's just say i have a brand new wingback chair that is waiting for its big reveal! :)

until next time!

  1. I thought the chandelier was new too and I was surprised to see it in the before photo. It used to feel out of place but with the lucite chairs it is just PERFECT. You made it all look intentional. Well done!
