ellie's nursery tour, part II

29 September 2015
in honor of ellie's first birthday tomorrow, i'm posting a nursery tour, part II.

as promised, here are some details about the various DIY projects that i did for her bedroom. preggo-nesting made me crafty! :)

first, my parents had given me this framed boston map artwork that they had purchased from an antique store years ago. to soften the brown frame, i simply lined it with coral washi tape … yup, that easy!

using twine and little brass clips, i transformed my 2013 rifle paper co. calendar into hanging artwork. i love anna rifle bond's style and i couldn't bare to discard of the calendar even though it was outdated!

i have had this tate gallery print since the christmas after i studied abroad in london. my parents had given it to me as a gift that they had found, again, at an antique store. i believe the original print had been bolder primary colors, however over time it has faded into soft pastels that coordinate perfectly with ellie's pink nursery. i decided to frame it with a white frame and white mat, but quickly decided to take a chance and hand-color the mat with pink and peach pastels to create an ombre-effect. i'm so happy with how it turned out!

lastly, i added silk flowers and some colorful washi tape to the outside edges of the letters above the crib.

happy happy happy birthday to my number one girl! how is time going so fast?
